Walk with Him
If you’re a Christ follower there are four critical steps you need to take…
If you make the choice to skip these, the bible warns us that you will not enter into heaven. 1 Cor 6:9-10
1. Pray daily – This means asking God for help, advice, direction and protection on a daily basis.
“Pray without ceasing” 1 Thessalonians 5:17
2. Read the bible – God’s word is His gift, direction and blueprint for how we can avoid devastating choices and pursue God’s blessings.
“So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” John 8:31-32
3. Attend church – A lot of people get this part wrong. Going to church is not to ‘be good’, but to learn God’s word, (it must be a bible teaching church), to get encouraged by other believers and to contribute your God given gifts to other christians.
“He who has an ear let him hear what the spirit says to the churches meaning.” Revelations 2:29
4. Obey The Holy Spirit – If you’re thinking that being a christian means you are saved and can continue sinning like before, you’re wrong. (Romans 6:1) Our motivation for being obedient isn’t to earn anything, (Ephesians 2:8) but to love Him. There are two key signs that your prayer was truly done in faith and you’re saved.
First, you’ll want to please Him, love Him, spend time with Him, talk about Him and be obedient to Him. Second, you’ll feel bad when you do sin. When this happens, confess it, ask forgiveness and take real steps to ensure that you don’t repeat the mistake.
Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.” John 5:23-25
